Civil Rights Outreach Project (CROP)

Calling all attorneys and law students. BAAML is having its first Civil Rights Outreach Project training on August 1st. This event is co-sponsored by The South Asian Bar Association of Northern California and the Northern California Chapter of the Iranian American Bar Association. We hope you will all sign up and attend! Refreshments will be provided.

WHERE: Fenwick and West, 801 California Street,  Mountain View, CA, 94041
WHEN:   August 1, 2010; 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

CROP works in collaboration with the Asian Law Caucus (ALC) in San Francisco to outreach to economically disadvantaged communities impacted by post-9/11 profiling and discrimination. CROP aims to assist these communities with their legal needs, educate them about their legal rights, and empower them to advocate on their own behalf. In conjunction with the ALC and other partnering attorneys and students, CROP participants travel to community centers in the Bay Area to provide clients with free, limited legal knowledge and to conduct intakes. Participants will gain substantive knowledge of national security and civil rights issues, as well as training on issue spotting and client interaction. BAAML has applied for MCLE status. You don't have to have a civil rights background. CROP can accommodate a range of commitment levels.

If you plan to attend please RSVP to baaml_net@yahoo.com.
